Muay thai, also known as Thai Kickboxing, is the national Martial Art of Thailand. It is an easy to learn, technique and fitness-based martial art. It is also very effective for self-defence. Every session is high energy and students learn the techniques and principles of Muay Thai as well as the language and the culture.
What is Muay Thai Kickboxing?
Muay Thai is also known as Thai Kickboxing or the Art of 8 Limbs. The Thai Kings of ancient times attached great importance to the training of their people in the skills of hand-to-hand combat. To lead by example, they too were great martial artists – strong, valiant, patient and extremely skilled in the art.
Why learn Muay Thai?
Muay Thai classes are great for cross training for all sports. It is also Fitness focused and is an effective form of Self-Defence. Suitable for both Adults and Kids, Muay Thai is one of the most interesting of the Martial Arts to learn.
An amazing integrated cultural experience, the rich history of this Martial Art is ingrained in the Muay Thai culture at VT1 Academy too, with a yearly trip to Thailand on offer to students to experience the art and culture firsthand.
Our Team
VT1 Academy co-founder, Dylan Resnekov, started martial arts at age 4 and went on to become a World Champion in Muay Thai in 2009. Having travelled to Thailand over 36 times, he has extensive experience in the art through his training, fights and coaching. Dylan provides an authentic insight into the culture and art like nobody else. He was awarded a medal of bravery by the Thai Government for his help in the 2004 Tsunami rescue and brings a team to Thailand every year to experience the training and culture.
