How To Choose the Best Martial Arts Program for Your Child
Jiu-jitsu? Karate? Muay Thai? With so many types of martial arts courses available, it can be hard to know how to choose the best classes for your child.
Like children, each one of our martial arts is unique in its own way. Each has brilliant lessons in teamwork, body-mechanics, culture and philosophy; no matter which you choose, your child will gain a lot! Children will naturally be attracted to the art that suits their personality, so we recommend working with our expert team to find the right program for them.
In every program we focus on building confidence in children; this means that our number one focus is safety at all times!
The following information should help you make an informed decision about which program to try.
3 Types of Martial Arts we offer at our Chatswood MMA gym
There are three types of Martial Arts; Striking, Grappling and Mixed Martial Arts.
For Self Defence
For pure self-defence purposes, Jiu Jitsu is a perfect choice for school children as it is safe, easy to learn and the grappling techniques mean they resort to striking others only when they need to defend themselves. All our Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts programs include BullyFree training during the school holidays to help bully proof your children.
For Competition
If competition is their goal, Jiu Jitsu and Karate are excellent Martial Arts courses to focus on. Karate is being included in the 2020 Olympics which means the children have a chance – with dedication and hard work – to be an Olympian one day. Jiu Jitsu has tournaments every month and the kids can aim to compete in the prestigious Mundials – World Championships – in the USA. Note: Competition is not compulsory.
For Confidence
If the focus is confidence, friendships, and discipline, all of our Martial Arts courses are great vehicles for developing healthy, strong kids. It’s important to let the child find which Martial Arts suits their personality so that they have a positive experience from the beginning. Your child may also be drawn to different arts at different stages in their Martial Arts journey and will build confidence in their abilities over many years of Martial Arts training.
